The Tarafder Lab is proud to highlight the participation of Fatima Elzahra Essassi, PhD student in Mechanical Engineering, at the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) Annual Meeting 2026, held March 27–31 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Zahra presented her work titled: “Anatomically Precise Meniscus Derived Scaffolds with Zonal and Regional Fidelity for Functional Repair.”
Her research focuses on developing biomimetic scaffolds that preserve the native anatomical, structural, and functional complexity of the meniscus, enabling improved healing and long-term functional repair.

The ORS meeting provided Zahra with valuable opportunities to engage with leading researchers and clinicians in the field. Through this experience, she built meaningful connections, gained new perspectives, and further strengthened her motivation to contribute to impactful advances in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic research.
We congratulate Zahra on her continued progress and contributions to the TARAFDER Lab and the broader research community.
