
The TARAFDER Lab proudly announces a major milestone: the successful MS thesis defense of Samiul Nibir, marking him as the first-ever graduating student from the lab. Nibir’s defense, held on December 10, 2024.
Nibir’s thesis, titled “Development of a Collagen-Based Bioink for 3D Printing Biomimetic Tendon-to-Bone Tissue Grafts for Rotator Cuff Repair,” presents an innovative approach to tissue engineering aimed at improving clinical outcomes for soft-to-hard tissue interface regeneration. His work utilizes natural polymers and advanced bioprinting techniques to develop biomimetic scaffolds that closely mimic the structure and function of native bone-to-tendon interface.
Samiul will continue his academic journey in the TARAFDER Lab as a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at South Dakota State University, beginning in Spring 2025. His future work will build on his master’s research, further advancing bioprinting strategies using natural polymers for complex tissue interfaces regeneration.
